As an aesthetic sport, bodybuilding back to the 11th Century due in India where athletes created their own weight (so-called Nai) stone and wood. There are also indications that they created the first kind of gyms at this time.
First Year
Bodybuilding is not really to win popularity until the late 19th Century, when the sport was by the German Eugen Sandow promoted – now often referred to as the “Father of Modern Bodybuilding. He is credited to the inventor and selling machine, the first of dumbbells.
Sandow organized the first bodybuilding contest of the 14th September 1901 the “Great Competition” and held at the Royal Albert Hall called. Measured by himself, Sir Charles Lawes, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the contest a great success and was dismissed sold to hundreds of fans. The trophy for the winner is a bronze statue of Sandow himself sculpture by Frederick Pomeroy. The statue was (such as “The Sandow known)” with the winner of the Mr. Olympia since 1977.
In the early 20th Century began Bernarr Macfadden and Charles Atlas, promote worldwide bodybuilding.
1940 – 1970
The period 1940-1970 is often called the “Golden Age” of bodybuilding. It was during this time that the technical improvements, training, publications, press the shelves more and more competitions take place.
